Walinga Inc. is currently looking to fill a Welder position in Fergus, ON that will be involved with interpreting technical drawings, preparing materials, and executing welding tasks to create or repair metal structures and components.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong knowledge of welding methods and standard practices, including various metal alloys.
  • Proficient in using welding tools and equipment for fabrication, assembly, and repairs, with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Skilled in determining appropriate welding techniques for different alloys and maintaining welding equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and ability to report unsafe conditions.
  • Attention to detail, strong math skills, and the ability to read and interpret welding and design drawings.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and adherence to work instructions.
  • Able to work independently or in a team, in fast-paced environments.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing, squatting, kneeling, and working at shoulder height.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs at various heights and work in varying temperatures.
  • Willingness to use protective gear and work around chemicals.

ACADEMIC AND TRADES QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Perform welding tasks using methods such as MIG, TIG, arc, and gas welding.
  • Set up welding machines based on the job requirements.
  • Weld metal components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, and shape metal components using hand tools, torches, and machines.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet specifications and standards.
  • Conduct tests and inspections to verify the quality of welds and identify defects.
  • Follow safety procedures to protect oneself and others.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Wear appropriate protective gear and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Work with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to complete projects.
