Salary: AUD $38 - $45 per hour depending on skill and experience
Australian Hammer Hire specialise in providing market leading excavator hire and excavator mounted attachment hire solutions. We are a fast-growing Australian family-owned company, with a focus on providing the best service for our customers.
We are seeking multiple Welders who have experience fabrication and refurbishment of machinery and attachments such as excavators, skid steers, dump trucks, hydraulic attachments, head brackets and buckets in our workshop.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION & LICENCES:

  • Cert III level qualification or formal training that is comparable.
  • Forklift Licence and Safe Working at Heights (Desirable).
  • Current drivers’ licence (Desirable).

SKILLS:

  • Have a strong adherence OH&S and in keeping as safe workplace.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience as a welder working on heavy earth moving and construction equipment is essential.
  • Experience speaking with customers and resolving any concerns or issues would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities
  • Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements and fabricate hammer heads and brackets as per technical drawings.
  • Select, clean and prepare metal stock.

· Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.

  • Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.

· Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.

  • Join metal selections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders or verbal instructions.
  • Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
  • Set up and lay out work using jigs/fixtures, use hand layouts to fabricate parts and/or rework finished products.
  • High level attention to detail and quality control.
  • Be able to problem solve, make decisions and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions.
  • Ensure good time management is kept on all jobs and work carried
  • Complete work safely, ensuring all SafeWork and environmental requirements are being met, procedures and policies are followed.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure protective clothing is being used when required.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order and measuring instruments are correctly calibrated. Tag out and notify your manager of any tools, instruments or equipment which are not working correctly.
  • Operate forklift, overhead crane, slings and chains as required for your work.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean and a safe environment is maintained.
