We're seeking a skilled professional to join our team! As a Welding Inspector, you'll be responsible for ensuring the welding quality, conducting inspections, and recording welding data in our structural steel and plate fabrication facilities. In this role, you'll oversee the performance and development of welding staff, ensuring all welding meets required quality standards and testing requirements. You'll also be responsible for ensuring that traceability documentation is up-to-date for each project. To excel in this role, you'll need a good level of IT skills/knowledge. You'll be performing in-process visual inspections and coordinating NDE of production welds in our structural steel and plate fabrication facilities. Qualifications Qualifications: Trade qualification (highly desirable) Hold one of the following qualifications: International Institute of welding diploma (IIW) as a welding inspector. Welding Technology Institute of Australia certificate as a welding inspector. Certification Board of Inspecting Personnel (CBIP) New Zealand Welding Inspector Certificate as a welding supervisor in accordance with AS 2214 Welding inspector qualification. CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector. Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a structural workshop role Additionally, 3 years trade experience (preferred) Knowledge of AS & ISO Standards for welding and NDT Familiarity with ISO 9606, ISO 3834, AS 5131, VicRoads 630 Strong understanding of all welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW) Experience with NDT techniques, codes, and procedures Strong communication and organisational skills Able to work as part of, and lead a team under pressure Solid IT skills (Office 365, Word and Excel) Additional Information At Thornton Engineering, we offer permanent full-time stable employment, a competitive salary package, professional development and career advancement, an immediate start, training on the job, and a positive work culture.
