Job Title: Tank Lead Department: Tank Classification: FLSA-Non-Exempt Job Family: Production Date: 5.22.26 Reports to: Tank Supervisor Travel: 0% Employment Type: Hourly Expected Work Hours: 40+ Essential Functions Summary: The Tank Lead plays a pivotal hands-on leadership role in overseeing daily welding and fabrication operations related to tank production within a manufacturing environment. This position ensures tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The Tank Lead trains and supervises team members, manages workflow, and collaborates across departments to meet production goals and maintain operational excellence. Accountabilities: • Lead and coordinate the work of tank welders and fabricators on the production floor. • Schedule and prioritize tank-related welding and assembly tasks to meet production deadlines. • Perform complex welds and conduct quality inspections to ensure compliance with specifications. • Train, coach, and mentor junior team members and new hires. • Monitor workflow and ensure adherence to project timelines and safety protocols. • Review and approve team members’ timecards and manage time punches in the HRIS system. • Conduct performance evaluations and implement disciplinary actions when necessary. • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the tank production area. • Collaborate with other departments to align tank fabrication tasks with overall production schedules. • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and delivery standards. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Tank Supervisor. Required Knowledge/Experience: • High school diploma or GED required. • 5+ years of industrial or commercial welding/fabrication experience, including leadership responsibilities. • Proficiency in blueprint reading, welding techniques, and inspection standards. • Experience in a production or metal fabrication environment preferred. • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to welding and tank operations. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Physical ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, lift up to 50 lbs, and push/pull up to 100 lbs. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Work Environment and Physical Demands • FLSA executive and professional positions paid on a salary basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays). • This role is primarily based in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions. • Mobility: Ability to stand, kneel, stoop, or crouch for 8–10 hours per day. • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to handle tools and welding equipment. • Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs. All lifting should follow OSHA standards. • Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members. • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
