We are an internationally renowned industrial steel fabricator and steel bending company. Established in 1974, in the Stoney Creek / Hamilton area serving the energy, resources, primary metals, marine, construction, architectural, and environmental industries.
We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Welding Leadhand to work on afternoon shift at our 930 Arvin Stoney Creek location. The 10 hour afternoon shift is Monday to Thursday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm with opportunity for overtime.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Welding Lead Hand to join our team at our CWB-certified shop. As the Welding Lead Hand, you will play a critical leadership role in supervising, mentoring, and coordinating a team of welders to ensure the successful execution of welding projects. You will report to the Shop Supervisor and work closely with management and quality control to maintain the highest standards of workmanship and safety while meeting production deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification:
  • Valid CWB welding certification (e.g., GMAW, FCAW, SAW, and GTAW) is mandatory.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., welding supervisor or inspector) are an asset.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of welding experience in a CWB-certified shop, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing welding teams and projects.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, materials, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in using welding tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with welding codes, standards, and quality control procedures.

SOFT SKILLS:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve high performance.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Supervision:
  • Lead a team of welders on variable shifts, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
  • Delegate tasks based on skillsets, workload, and project requirements.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and support to team members, troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Feedback for performance reviews on individuals focusing on merit and coaching influences.
