Job Purpose

This role is to be a technical resource for TechnipFMC project teams welding, material and fabrication activities in the subsea business sector, in accordance with TechnipFMC standards, procedures and processes, schedules and manhours, with a continuous concern for quality, targets, and customer satisfaction.

  • Responsible for welding and material related technical aspects and qualification of welding procedures in conjunction with fabrication on Orkanger Spoolbase.
  • Write technical specifications for procurement and production related to welding and materials for pipeline production and qualification.
  • Prepare all relevant documentations needed prior start of welding procedure qualification.
  • Follow-up of qualifications program, including a continous overview of priorities for all relevant parties, i.e. welding crew, QC, NDT and destructive testing.
  • Prepare welding procedure manuals prior to start production and ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications and requirements.

The tasks/responsibilities described below apply to Welding and Material of rigid pipeline and related items.

  • Preparation of detalied project specific welding procedure proposals and administration of
  • subsequent qualification.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work performed on this site is conducted according to TechnipFMC’s
  • requirements for safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Deputise for Spoolbase Engineering Manager in matters related to welding and materials.
  • Advising and offering technical expertise on welding and mettalurgical matters, non-conformances
  • etc. as required.
  • Organisation and ensure personnel and equipment is in place for welding procedure qualifications.
  • Supervision of welding procedure qualifications.
  • Ensuring all welding procedures qualification packages and records are correctly compiled and
  • systematically filed.
  • Monitoring, witnessing and endorsing tests performed at appointed test houses on behalf of
  • TechnipFMC Norway.
  • Endorsement of welding procedure qualification record packages and welding procedure specific
  • documentation.
  • Liaise with Client(s) on welding and metallurgical matters, non-conformances etc. as required.
  • Liaise with subcontractors for welding procedures and welder qualifications.
  • Interface with third parties and statutory bodies e.g. DNV, on welding related issues.
  • Advising on matters related to welding consumables including evaluation and selection.
  • Advising on material selection and purchase.Liaise with Spoolbase Engineering Manager, QA, Manager, Spoolbase Facilitiy Superindenent, Spoolbase Engineer and QC Lead.

You are meant for this job if:

  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Preferably at least 1 year of this in pipeline related activities, metallurgy or materials
  • Engineering degree within a relevant field (M.Sc or B.Sc), preferably metallurgy or materials.
