JOB TITLE: WELDING QUALITY CONTROL (QC) SPECIALIST

Location: Fineline Steel Fabrication
Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control
Reports To: QC Manager
Job Type: Full Time

JOB SUMMARY:

The Welding QC Specialist is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality and compliance of welding processes, materials, and procedures with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications. This role involves inspecting welds, verifying welder qualifications, reviewing WPS/PQR, and ensuring all welding operations adhere to the highest safety and quality standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or related field, also acceptable OJT for min of 2 Years.
  • Knowledge of: Welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, ), NDT methods, codes & standards (ASME, API, AWS, ISO).
  • Skills: Attention to detail, strong documentation skills, ability to read technical drawings, good communication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with AISC quality management systems.
  • Experience with digital inspection reporting tools or quality software.
  • Multilingual abilities (if applicable to the job site).
  • Familiar with safety procedures in hazardous environments (e.g., H2S, confined spaces).

Responsibilities
  • Perform visual inspections and NDT (non-destructive testing) review of welds to ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO, API).
  • Monitor and verify welder qualifications and maintain up-to-date records.
  • Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
  • Supervise welding activities and ensure welders follow approved procedures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for welding defects and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with third-party inspectors and client representatives.
  • Maintain detailed QC documentation and generate inspection reports.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and client requirements.
  • Provide technical support to production and welding personnel.
  • Assist in audits and quality reviews as required.
