Durose Manufacturing Limited is a leading custom steel fabrication company based in Guelph, Ontario. We specialize in delivering high-quality, non-production custom steel solutions to meet unique client specifications. We are seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor to join our dynamic team.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a hands-on Welding Supervisor to train and manage our team of novice welders. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in supervising welders and extensive experience in a non-production custom steel fabrication plant. The position is primarily shop-floor based, with minimal time spent in an office setting.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience supervising welders in a professional setting.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in non-production custom steel fabrication.
  • Strong welding knowledge and application, FCAW, GMAW and MCAW processes.
  • Must have superior welding and grinding skills. Must also be able to recognize welder faults and correct them through training.
  • High attention to detail and very accurate with the ability to read customer supplied Engineered Drawings
  • Ability to train and mentor novice welders, fostering skill development and teamwork.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a fabrication shop environment.
  • Relevant welding certifications (e.g., CWB, AWS) are an asset.
Responsibilities
  • Train, mentor, and supervise novice welders to ensure high-quality welding standards and safe work practices.
  • Oversee daily welding operations, ensuring projects meet client specifications and deadlines.
  • Perform hands-on welding tasks as needed to support the team and maintain production flow.
  • Conduct quality checks on welds and fabricated components to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, enforcing all safety protocols.
  • Provide guidance on welding techniques, equipment use, and material selection for custom fabrication projects.
