Description

We are currently seeking a highly experienced Welding Superintendent to support the delivery of Europe’s largest and most complex energy infrastructure programme – Hinkley Point C.
This long-term opportunity places you at the centre of a landmark nuclear project, leading welding operations on a licensed nuclear construction site and ensuring standards are met at the highest level across a 10-year programme.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Expert Welding Engineer with a proven track record on major projects
  • Strong background in pipework erection, heat treatment, and stress control
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments, preferably nuclear
  • Excellent knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001
  • Confident communicator with the ability to lead, coach, and influence across functions
  • Experience in metallurgical controls and practical welding operations
  • Technical report writing and stakeholder engagement skills

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or HND/NVQ Level 4 in mechanical, materials, or related engineering discipline
  • Hands-on background as a welder or mechanical craftsman
  • Previous experience in the nuclear sector or similar regulated industries

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support welding and allied activities across the HPC site
  • Guide and engage Contract Partners in welding planning and resourcing
  • Ensure welders and procedures are properly qualified and compliant with all UK regulations
  • Maintain a high-quality welding environment, minimising defects
  • Promote a strong safety and quality culture across all operations
  • Provide support and technical leadership in resolving welding-related challenges
  • Review performance data and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders including NNB functions, technical authorities, and inspection teams
