B-K Lighting is seeking a Welding Technician to join our Pole Manufacturing / Machine Shop team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a production environment, can work independently, and is confident welding aluminum and steel to specification. Requirements What You’ll Do: Produce high-quality welded aluminum and steel pole components that meet engineering specs and production schedules Perform manual TIG and MIG welding with strong appearance, penetration, and dimensional accuracy Set up, operate, and monitor robotic welding cell(s) to support daily production output Inspect welds to ensure first-pass quality and readiness for powder coat and shipping Follow AWS D1.1 (Steel) and AWS D1.2 (Aluminum) welding standards Troubleshoot welding, fixture, and process issues before they impact production Perform routine preventative and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime Determine when repairs can be handled in-house vs. needing outside vendor support Safely load, unload, transfer, and stage long pole material throughout production Prep, pack, and stage welded poles for powder coat and shipping without damage or delay Coordinate with Shipping, Purchasing, Engineering, and the Machine Shop Supervisor to keep production moving Communicate clearly with supervisors and cross-functional teams regarding priorities, risks, and timelines Proactively identify potential safety hazards and take corrective action Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area Accurately document work performed, inspections, maintenance, and issues Model B-K Lighting’s core values: Do What’s Right, Always • Relentlessly Pursue Mastery • Create Awe-Inspiring Experiences • Push Forward with Curiosity • Invest in Others Perks & Benefits: $30.00/hour – $42.00/hour Paid Time Off (PTO) & full benefits package including Medical, Dental, and Vision Work in a state-of-the-art facility with amenities like video games, quiet rooms, and a gym Growth opportunities in a stable, innovative manufacturing environment Join a company that prioritizes sustainability, quality, and craftsmanship Requirements What We’re Looking For: 5–10 years of production welding experience with aluminum and steel (or equivalent experience + certifications) Strong ability to perform TIG and MIG welding to specification Ability to inspect weld quality and identify defects Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work orders Willingness and ability to learn robotic welding systems Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills Sound judgment and calm troubleshooting under pressure Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently Team-oriented mindset and strong work ethic Safety Awareness – Proactively identifies and mitigates safety risks Quality Orientation – Consistently delivers accurate, defect-free work. Comfortable operating forklifts and material-handling equipment Work Environment & Physical Requirements: This role involves working in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noise, dust, varying temperatures, and long periods of standing. Candidates should be comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally and wearing PPE such as safety glasses and closed-toe shoes.
Responsibilities
The Welding Technician will produce high-quality welded aluminum and steel pole components using manual TIG/MIG welding and by setting up and monitoring robotic welding cells to meet production schedules. Responsibilities also include inspecting welds, troubleshooting process issues, performing routine maintenance on welding systems, and coordinating material staging for powder coating and shipping.
