Job Summary
Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is seeking applications for a part-time Adjunct Instructor of Welding Technology. This role primarily focuses on teaching dual enrollment students in high school, along with some adult learners. The position requires less than 30 hours of work per week and involves delivering engaging instruction in welding technology. In this role, you will support students in achieving their educational goals and develop curriculum that meets industry standards. Job Duties
The welding instructor is responsible for teaching all phases of the program, including gas metal arc (MIG), tungsten inert gas (TIG), shielded metal arc (stick welding), oxyacetylene fusion (gas), inner shield welding, flux core welding, flame cutting, brazing, and soldering. Candidate must be able to provide related instruction in metallurgy, blueprint reading, welding symbols, fitting, and fabrication. Physically able to lift, stoop, stand, and walk to demonstrate and perform all job duties required. Must monitor and evaluate student progress; accurately maintain program and student records. Must maintain an active advisory committee and communicate with business and industry regularly. Other duties include curriculum development and updates, student record keeping, recruitment, placement, and follow-up. Continue personal training and professional development to stay abreast of changes in the industry. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
  • Post-secondary diploma or A.A.S. in Welding Technology or related field
  • A minimum of three (3) years of employment experience in the occupation

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS, CWE, CWI, and NCCER certifications
  • Teaching experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be a good communicator with effective verbal and written skills and be able to organize and provide theoretical and practical instructional activities to enable students to become AWS Certified. Computer skills are required. Must be able to provide both theory and practical instruction.
SALARY: Commensurate with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines of $30 per hour.
