OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Good level of general education to GSCE (or equivalent) standard
  • Experience in working with older people
  • Experience in organising and running a range of events/activities
  • Experience and understanding of risk assessments, creating and reviewing them
  • Knowledge of good practice in relation to working with people living with dementia e.g. moving and handling and the safeguarding of adults at risk
  • Confident working with a range of IT in particular Word, Outlook and Excel

Desirable

  • First aid trained or basic knowledge
  • Knowledge of health and safety
  • Knowledge of gentle exercises appropriate for older people
  • Understanding of volunteer work and work experience
  • Clean current drivers licence (that meets criteria to drive a minibus)
Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan, and communicate an evolving activities programme that reflects the wide range of individual needs, preferences and acknowledges developments in research in activities for older people.
  • Encourage and facilitate residents to arrange their own activities where appropriate.
  • Evaluate and monitor the success of all activities for residents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the site to provide opportunities for shared activities. Work closely with care, facilities and the pastoral team to plan suitable activities.
  • Establish links with the local community and encourage cross-generational activities.
  • Support and coordinate volunteers and work experience students who are involved in various activities and events.
  • With the Social Care Deputy Manager, monitor the activities budget and ensure that best value is achieved through expenditure
