Job Description Job Description Role based in Moomba, SA, 5710 Permanent Full-time FIFO: 28 days on 26 days off or 15 days on 13 days off We are seeking an experienced and motivated Well Test Supervisor with mechanical background to supervise the mechanical rig-up, configuration and operation of Surface Well Test (SWT) equipment, ensuring all mechanical systems are installed, tested and operated in accordance with engineering standards and operational procedures. This includes the accurate reporting of surface and downhole mechanical conditions, equipment performance and operational parameters to both the client and SGS management. Accountable for the supervision of all personnel, mechanical equipment and support services required to deliver a safe and successful well test operation. This involves coordinating and delegating tasks, overseeing mechanical integrity checks, ensuring equipment readiness, and maintaining high standards of operational discipline throughout the job. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide technical support to customer representatives, particularly in relation to the mechanical performance, operation and troubleshooting of Well Test equipment. Interpret and apply complex P&IDs and engineering drawings for Well Test installations to support safe and accurate mechanical setup and operation. Implement, monitor and document pre-project, routine and annual mechanical maintenance programs for all field equipment, ensuring reliability and compliance. Operate all mechanical equipment—including test separators, choke manifolds, indirect heaters and associated WT package components—independently, safely and to engineering standards. Oversee full WT package operations, including coordination with slickline and wireline services, ensuring mechanical systems are functioning within design parameters. Ensure all mechanical equipment maintenance is logged, completed and verified, with equipment kept in job-ready condition at all times. Verify equipment certification, mechanical integrity and compliance documentation prior to mobilisation. Oversee commissioning of new mechanical equipment, ensuring correct installation, calibration and operational readiness. Perform mechanical diagnostics and troubleshooting during field operations, escalating issues where required and implementing corrective actions onsite. Support Adelaide yard operations through hands-on mechanical maintenance, equipment preparation and engineering support activities. Review production efficiency, mechanical performance trends and cost-saving opportunities, reporting findings and recommendations to Management. Assess equipment requirements for upcoming projects and provide engineering-based recommendations for improvements or replacements. Ensure Client job programs are mechanically workable, providing technical input, corrections and engineering considerations where necessary. Accurately record and verify surface and down-hole test data, ensuring mechanical parameters and equipment performance data are captured correctly. Communicate technical information to customers to support safe, efficient and successful operations. Supervise operators, delegating tasks and ensuring mechanical procedures and safety standards are followed. Plan, organise and direct personnel across multiple well sites, ensuring mechanical operations are adequately staffed and supported. Participate in and contribute to field crew assessments, focusing on mechanical competency and operational performance. Deliver field training to SGS Well Test personnel, particularly in mechanical operation, maintenance and equipment handling. Coordinate field operations and advise the Well Services Coordinator of any changes to work programs, mechanical procedures or equipment requirements. Communicate delays, mechanical issues or operational risks to management while actively managing and resolving issues onsite. Qualifications Essential Experience & Technical Background • Minimum five years’ experience in oilfield well site services, including strong multi-skilled capability across slickline operations, offshore or international slickline work, well testing and early production systems. • Demonstrated experience in lower-level supervisory or lead-hand roles, with the ability to guide, mentor and support field personnel. • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with well test equipment, including separators, choke manifolds, heaters and associated mechanical systems. • Experience in electronic product servicing and field diagnostics, supporting equipment reliability and operational readiness. • Strong computer literacy, including use of word processing, spreadsheets, dashboards and industry-standard analysis tools (e.g WDSS or equivalent). Licences & Certifications • CV Crane Licence for safe lifting and mechanical handling operations. • 4WD Licence for remote and off-road field access. • HR Driver’s Licence to support mobilisation of heavy equipment. Senior First Aid Certificate ensuring capability to respond to onsite incidents. • Gas Detection Training for safe operation in hazardous environments. • Wellsite Permit to Work Holder & Authority Training to ensure compliance with site control systems. • Breathing Apparatus Training for emergency response and confined-space readiness. Additional Essential Requirements • Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance practices, including inspection, troubleshooting and servicing of well test and surface equipment. • Ability to interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings and technical documentation to support equipment setup and safe operation. • Competence in field data recording and reporting, ensuring accuracy of mechanical and operational parameters. • High level of safety awareness, with commitment to QHSE standards and regulatory compliance. • Capability to work in remote, high-pressure and fast-paced environments while maintaining professionalism and mechanical discipline. • Strong communication and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications • Advanced Well Test training demonstrating strong competency in mechanical operation, diagnostics and optimisation of WT equipment. • Data Acquisition training supporting accurate capture, interpretation and validation of mechanical and operational data. • Advanced Sampling (PVT) certification with capability to obtain, handle and analyse reservoir fluid samples to engineering standards. • Well Control Training ensuring understanding of pressure control principles, mechanical barriers and safe operational practices. • Elevated Work Platform certification enabling safe access to mechanical equipment and elevated structures. • Forklift Ticket supporting safe mechanical handling, mobilisation and loading of equipment.
