You will have strong communication skills and an ability to work with teaching staff, support staff, students, and parents/carers. You will have experience of working in the field of mental health and wellbeing and mentoring individuals especially those whose behaviour can be described as challenging.
You will role model Trauma Informed Practice and ways of working, and will have experience working in this setting - ideally in a restorative manner. Resilience, confidence, and empathy will be strong skills for you to continually develop professional relationships with students and support them in their various journeys at Activate Learning.

Responsibilities

Activate Learning are looking for a Wellbeing Adviser to join our Student Experience Team, based at Reading College.
This individual will work in a wider team that focus on pastoral support - including behaviour support, counselling, and enrichment. The Wellbeing Adviser will focus on supporting students who need support with mild to moderate mental health needs, developing healthy habits, and wellbeing support and guidance to allow them to progress within their studies and beyond.
To be successful at this role you will need to have the skills to meet students individually or in small groups to guide them through difficult periods in time, provide packages of support for their mental health and wellbeing, and support them in developing resilience among other social skills. You will play a key role in creating individualized support plans and targeted interventions for a caseload of students, both during their application to college and their time on a study programme. You will also be instrumental in supporting the implementation of the Activate Learning mental health strategy, sharing your insights in the co-creation and delivery of deliverable actions - continually driving improvements in the remit of mental health and wellbeing for our students.
This is a permanent, term-time only role (0.88 FTE) based at Reading College.
