JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Wellness Manager Department: Supplements & Body Care
Reports to: Store Manager, Category Manager - Wellness
Direct Reports: Wellness Advisors

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Wellness Manager plays a key leadership role at Amaranth by overseeing the Wellness Department and ensuring it delivers an outstanding customer and team experience. This position contributes directly to Amaranth’s vision of creating a better way for us to eat, live, and thrive by leading the team, ensuring excellent product knowledge, maintaining accurate inventory, and supporting in-store sales growth.

PRIORITY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

These are the outcomes the team member is accountable for, as outlined in the accountability chart. These outcomes include:

  • Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable (LMA): Provide clear guidance, leadership, and feedback to grocery team members, ensuring accountability and high performance.
  • Quality Control: Maintain consistent quality standards throughout the Grocery Department, including proper product rotation, accurate pricing, and shelf-tag management.
  • Minimize Out of Stocks: Collaborate closely with Category Managers to effectively manage inventory levels, proactively preventing out-of-stock situations, particularly for perishable and high-demand items.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop and maintain strong knowledge of wellness products (supplements, personal care, natural health). Support and mentor the team in building their product knowledge to better serve customers.

SECONDARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

These accountabilities support the effective completion of the Priority Accountabilities:

  • Foster strong communication between Wellness team members, Store Managers, and Category Managers.
  • Ensure Wellness reports, credits, transfers, and special orders are managed accurately and on schedule.
  • Participate in planning and executing store promotions, end caps, and merchandising changes.
  • Ensure daily operational checklists are followed and completed.
  • Support continuous improvement in department efficiency, customer experience, and team morale.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous supervisory experience in retail, ideally in wellness or natural products.
  • Education or significant experience in nutrition, herbology, homeopathy, or related natural health fields.
  • Intermediate computer and database skills; familiarity with inventory systems is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
  • Food Handling Safety certification is an asset.

TIME REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full-time hourly position.
  • Flexible working availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and shift coverage as needed.
  • Entitled to a 30-minute unpaid meal break for shifts longer than 5 consecutive hours.

BASIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Walk, bend, twist, reach above and below shoulders.
  • Use mops, brooms, cleaning supplies, carts, pallet jack, computers, and printers.
  • Use ladders up to 12 feet in height.
  • This role may include lifting items up to 50 lbs. Teamwork and tools, such as carts, are available to support these tasks.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, freezers, outdoors).
Responsibilities

TACTICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

These are the processes that the team member is responsible for executing:

  • Oversee receiving, verification, and timely shelving of Wellness shipments.
  • Ensure proper rotation of products, tagging accuracy, and prompt resolution of damaged or mis-shipped goods.
  • Manage and follow up on customer special orders, including communication of delays and status updates.
  • Ensure regular completion of reports including OOS (Out of Stock), Unreceived, Negative Inventory, and Discard Reports.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy, including backstock management and database updates.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces including wellness coolers, shelves, backstock rooms, and service areas.
  • Contribute to and lead L10 meetings, to-do lists, and issue tracking as part of Amaranth’s Traction/EOS process.
