Job Details Job Location: Preble Street - PORTLAND, ME 04101 Elena’s Way, a Preble Street Wellness Shelter, provides shelter and intensive support services to 40 individuals experiencing homelessness and complex physical and mental health needs, in a 24-hour trauma-informed environment grounded in social work and medical best practices. A Client Support Staff position with a 2nd shift schedule is currently available in this service-inclusive, client-centered shelter program. As part of the team providing comprehensive services to individuals accessing the Wellness Shelter, Elena’s Way Client Support Staff outreach and engage with clients, provide direct services and program coverage, maintain safety in program spaces, provide crisis intervention and support, and assist in case management activities. The (40 hours/week) 2ndt shift position has 2 schedule options: Sunday-Tuesday & Thursday 1:00Pm- 11:00Pm OR Sunday-Thursday 3:00Pm-11:00Pm Qualifications Qualifications include education in social work or related field of study and experience in direct service provision to people experiencing homelessness, or a combination of work experience, education, and/or training likely to provide the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the work of the Client Support Staff. Also required are an understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s mission, positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty, and a commitment to providing low-barrier services. Additional requirements include strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills; familiarity with community resources; ability to engage with and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team. Compensation & Benefits The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $23.12 per hour. Direct service positions in 24/7 programs are also eligible for shift differentials of $ 1 per hour for all hours actually worked between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm.
