Job Summary
A Brief Overview
The Housing and Ancillary Services team manages close to 5,000 student beds in 18 residence buildings, as well as off-campus rental apartments and housing properties, three dining halls, 23 retail food service locations on campus, the Donald Gordon Hotel and Conference Centre, the University Club, and Event Services. Residence buildings also provide temporary accommodations for the summer conference, events, and tourism markets. Revenue and services from these units support vital student life programs and contribute to the University’s learning environment.
The Wellness and Sustainability Manager plays an integral role in supporting healthy and sustainable food systems on campus. The incumbent will be responsible for successfully achieving embedded integration with the food and beverage contracts on campus to work collaboratively on customized programs to meet Queen’s standards. Hospitality Services manages the mandatory meal plan for students living in residences and optional meal plans for students who live off campus. The Wellness and Sustainability Manager is also responsible for developing, implementing, and measuring an Allergy Risk Management Program to mitigate the risk of food allergy incidents.
This position provides subject matter expertise on nutrition and wellness, and consults on a variety of challenges and approaches to meal planning and dietary matters. This position prepares and delivers sessions on a variety of nutrition, and wellness topics. This position prepares print and digital communication resources to inform and educate. This position also collaborates with other on-campus and community supports in the ongoing management of students’ nutritional, and wellness needs.
Job Description
What you will doProvides subject matter expertise on nutrition and wellness, and consults on variety of challenges, and approaches to meal planning and dietary matters.

Prepares and delivers sessions on nutrition and wellness topics including healthy eating, food insecurity, fueling for sport, plant-based diets, navigating on-campus eateries, grocery shopping, eating on a budget, and cooking skills.

Plans, implements, and engages students through healthy eating programs, guest lectures, and presentations.

Prepares print and digital communication resources to inform and educate.

Collaborates with other on-campus and community supports in the ongoing management of students’ nutritional and wellness needs, and identifies and supports access to community, volunteer, and professional food services and programs.

- Provides clinical nutrition management for a variety of health conditions.
- Provides expertise and develops plans to mitigate allergy risk.
Partners with campus partners, stakeholders, and suppliers to implement initiatives to enhance the student dining experience.

Provides input on purchasing decisions regarding nutrition, food allergens, food packaging, and sustainable foods.
