MILLBURY PUBLIC SCHOOLS OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENTVACANCY NOTICE: August 14, 2025 CLOSING: Until filledOPENING For 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR1.0 FTE Wellness Teacher (Grades 7 - 12) DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a dynamic Wellness Teacher for grades 7-12 who will work with our current members of the wellness department to deliver a robust and engaging curriculum that aligns with the newly updated Massachusetts standards and frameworks. The ideal candidate will inspire students to embrace life-long holistic wellness by fostering physical, mental, and emotional health. Responsibilities include developing innovative lessons, leading hands-on activities, and assessing student progress in a supportive learning environment. This role requires a passionate educator committed to empowering students with the knowledge and skills necessary for healthy living.GENERAL DUTIES: Provide multiple instructional and engagement strategies in both a classroom environment and a gymnasium to meet the needs of all learning stylesFunction as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team Analyze individual student data and use that information to develop measurable goals, objectives, and corresponding lessons/unitsDevelop a curriculum in health and physical education that is standards-based, rooted in fundamentals, vertically aligned, incorporates 21st-century Learning Skills, and provides students with inquiry-based learning opportunities.Apply appropriate knowledge to curriculum content/instruction, plan lessons, and align assessment of student learning while monitoring students’ understanding of the curriculum and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, using data-driven techniques, as appropriateParticipate in related school meetings which are held to improve both curricula and extracurricular activitiesCollaborate with the various school-based departments to support and address student needs Communicate with parents through conferences, and other means to discuss students progress.Perform other professional duties as outlined and requested by the building Principal QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of MA DESE license in the area of Health/Family and Consumer Sciences (All Levels)Physical Education (5 - 12) preferred SEI EndorsementExperience in planning, directing, and assisting group and individual instructional activities which are engaging and multi-sensoryStrong content background and skills to meet the needs of diverse learners.Strong communication skills and a background in working with parents/guardians as partners in the educational processThe ability to accommodate diverse learning stylesExperience utilizing the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) preferredSALARY: In accordance with the teachers contractWORK YEAR: School Year as approved by the Millbury School Calendar and Millbury Teachers AssociationLETTER OF APPLICATION: A cover letter, resume, copy of college transcripts, copy of licensure, and three letters of reference should be sent to: Christopher Lowe, PrincipalMillbury Jr./Sr.
