JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a compassionate individual who is dedicated to making measurable difference in the lives of people we serve and partners we collaborate with, to deliver high-quality care that empowers individuals to live independently with dignity. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth operation of our services and providing person-centred support.

ACADEMIC/VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  • Good General Education
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care

Desirable

  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care.

EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Experience within a health care environment.

Desirable

  • Experience in a GP Practice

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Essential:

  • Ability to provide quality care with compassion.
  • Understand the healthcare code of practice.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Good Organisational skills, reliable & punctual.
  • Collaborate effectively with a wider team.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to work independently following verbal or written instructions.
  • Adaptable to change & work well under pressure.
  • Computer literate

Desirable

  • Basic IT Skills
  • Knowledge in systmone clinical systems
  • Skills in Phlebotomy, ECGs, Patient Health Checks, Blood Pressures
  • Basic first aid knowledge
  • Health and safety awareness
  • Awareness of Blood Borne Viruses

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF POST

  • Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle with business insurance.
  • Provide cover for absence of other HCA when required.
  • Willingness to complete mandatory training and ongoing CPD
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Provide highest level of personal care (assist to toilet, bathing, dressing, oral/dental hygiene, eye care etc.) and attention to service users, carefully following individual care plans and ensuring contacts remain polite, friendly, warm and supportive.
  • Maintain safety by complying with relevant safety requirements like Fire Safety, Health & Safety, Infection Control and provisions of the Health & Social Care Act.
  • Support with mobility, transfers, and use of mobility aids
  • Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring adequate nutrition and hydration.
  • Prompt or administer medication as per care plan and training.
  • Carry out light domestic duties, such as cleaning and laundry.
  • Monitor and report changes in service users’ physical or emotional condition.
  • Maintain accurate care records and report incidents or concerns promptly.
  • Provide companionship, emotional support and encourage clients to interact.
  • Work in partnership with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals
  • Follow individual care plans, company policies and procedures, keen to safeguarding, confidentiality, and infection control.
  • Ensure the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) provided by SHHS as required from client to client.
