Description
Description Overview of Organization Colorado Enterprise Fund (CEF) is a nonprofit business lending organization dedicated to supporting the success of small businesses in Colorado. We provide access to capital for entrepreneurs who are unable to secure traditional financing. Our primary focus includes business owners who may be low-to-moderate income, minorities, women, or veterans. We are committed to creating meaningful community impact in Colorado’s communities by offering equitable and affordable business financing solutions for those who are underserved by the mainstream financial system. At CEF we see our community impact through job creation, wealth building among disadvantaged populations, and the growth and long-term success of the businesses we support. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy — driving innovation, creating jobs, and strengthening communities. Small business owners across Colorado turn to CEF when they’re ready to seek financing but have been unable to obtain loans from traditional resources such as banks. As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), CEF provides loans, grants, and no-cost business coaching to help entrepreneurs launch, grow and thrive. Overview of the Position As a Community Loan Officer, you will expand access to capital impact across the Western Slope and Rural Colorado by connecting local small businesses, entrepreneurs, and community members with CEF’s resources. Your role focuses on proactive daily business development activities-building referral partnerships with local banks, financial institutions, economic development organizations and the community at large. CEF offers a hybrid work environment with a blend of remote work and opportunities to connect in-person. Candidates must be based within the Western Slope region (ideally Grand Junction) and can expect to travel to the Denver office during the initial training period and then at least three times per quarter. As an established CDFI, we offer the following benefits: Health, vision, dental and life insurance, paid parental leave, as well as short-term and long-term disability coverage. CEF also offers a monthly hybrid work stipend, and a 403b retirement plan with employer match up to 5% of an employee’s contribution. Our paid time off policies include ten (10) paid holidays per year, paid vacation, and paid health and wellness time. Requirements On a given day, your work will include: Daily business development work to create and foster a pipeline of referral leads from new and existing business partners. Maintaining active working knowledge of all CEF loan solutions, programs, rates, fees, policies, and services. Familiarity with analyzing financial statements, tax returns, and other financial documents to identify viable loans and mitigate risk. Ability to consistently meet and exceed internal metrics for monthly lead generation activity and closure of loans. Working collaboratively with the Production Team through all stages of the loan approval process. Public speaking presentations within the banking community and/or local economic and chamber events. Other duties as assigned. Our ideal candidate will have: Associate’s degree preferred in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (relevant coursework will also be considered). At least two years of hands-on lending experience, which may include commercial real estate, mortgage lending, fixed asset financing, or working capital loans. Minimum of two years prior business development experience, with proven success in both cold and warm lead generation-and the skills to turn those leads into lasting relationships. Demonstrated expertise in delivering exceptional customer service with diplomacy, empathy, and professionalism. Exposure to underwriting or loan structuring in a prior role is a plus! A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, to ensure safe travel to businesses throughout rural Colorado year-round. Ability to travel to main CEF Denver offices for required meetings and training events for staff. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Flexibility and agility to effectively communicate and interact across a broad range of cultures, personalities, and work styles. Strongly self-motivated and able to follow through in completing high-quality, detailed work with minimal supervision. Ability to provide superior customer service while actively listening and responding in an appropriate manner. Technical proficiency to include Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, and/or financial software. High-level time management and organizational skills, including consistent, detailed documentation of work performed. Ongoing focus on continual improvement and identifying ways to provide enhanced support across the organization. At Colorado Enterprise Fund, we believe in a skills-first approach to recruitment and employment. This means focusing on what you can do and how you can grow, rather than traditional metrics alone. We are committed to adhering to anti-exclusion practices, removing barriers to access, and enhancing opportunities for all individuals based on merit and potential.
