About the FCA
The Supervision Division is part of the Supervision, Policy and Competition (SPC) Division of the FCA. The work of the division focusses on both market participants and cross-market themes with all work contributing to the FCA’s strategic and operational objectives and leads most of the FCA’s 3 year strategic business priorities.
The Wholesale Banks Department is responsible for supervision (regulatory oversight) of investment banking groups and how they conduct their business. This includes identifying and mitigating risks and assessing regulatory compliance.

What will you be doing?

  • Using data to analyse banks’ business strategies and activities, how they are changing in response to the external environment, and the implications for risks from a conduct perspective
  • Engaging and meeting with senior management at banks, internal stakeholders (e.g. other departments such as Enforcement or Financial Crime) and other regulators
  • Assessing banks’ compliance with regulations and how deficiencies can be addressed
  • Assisting with developing and implementing regulatory strategies to supervise banks
  • Working within a team in the department and assisting on workstreams both within the team and more broadly
  • Collaborating inclusively, contributing to an environment where all opinions are listened to and respected and engaging with the FCA’s Diversity and Inclusion agenda

Minimum

  • Experience in firm supervision, wholesale markets or the banking sector
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • A strong aptitude for analysing complex information and contributing to the development of an appropriate supervisory strategy to address and prevent harm

Essential

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to support the delivery of supervisory objectives
  • Skilled in to communicating key messages and simplifying complex issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Determination to engage with and drive forward cases and workstreams with an appropriate level of support and guidance
  • Confident working at pace and under pressure, and managing a variety of competing workstreams and issues, prioritising accordingly
  • Willingness to learn and develop, embracing new responsibilities and adopting a flexible and pragmatic approach to work
