Description

As we continue our mission to make people happy through chocolate, we’re looking for a Wholesale Merchandiser to join our Wholesale team on a permanent basis.
As a Wholesale Merchandiser, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving profitable sales growth across our Wholesale Partners by expertly managing stock, analysing trends, and ensuring operational excellence. With a focus on accurate line level forecasting, minimising inter-channel transfers and reducing stock write-offs, you’ll help deliver Hotel Chocolat’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and commercial success. Working closely with the Wholesale Account Managers and cross-functional teams, you’ll ensure the right products are in the right place at the right time.
As well as a competitive salary and a range of company benefits, you’ll receive 50% discount on all products, and a 70% discount for you and your guests when you stay at our Rabot Estate hideaway on the paradise island of Saint Lucia.
Here at Hotel Chocolat, we’ve adopted hybrid working. This means you’ll join us on site for three days a week, and for the other two days – you can work from wherever you like! The on-site location for this role is our support office, ‘Mint House’, in Royston, Hertfordshire. Our home from the very beginning, it’s just off the A505 and 10 minutes’ walk from Royston train station, with direct rail links to London King’s Cross.

What you’ll be doing….

  • Developing SKU-level forecasts tailored for each Wholesale Partner in collaboration with the relevant Wholesale Account Manager, using historical data and partner-provided insights.
  • Contributing to the annual budget process for each Wholesale account, ensuring forecasts align with strategic objectives.
  • Feeding accurate forecasts into S&OE and S&OP processes to support stock management and ensure demand planning accuracy.
  • Reviewing weekly sales, volume, and margin data, identifying trends and opportunities to improve stock allocation and exceed targets.
  • Maintaining minimum BBE (Best Before End) requirements to minimise short-dated stock risks for other Hotel Chocolat channels.
  • Collaborating with Account Managers to ensure seamless alignment of stock strategies.
  • Partnering with Wholesale Account Managers to support new product launches, seasonal campaigns, and limited editions.
  • Resolving operational challenges, escalating issues as needed to ensure smooth execution.
  • Working closely with the Regional Supply Planning team to provide SKU-level insights and align with Omnichannel reporting frameworks.
  • Identifying and leading initiatives to improve processes, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance wholesale operations.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge with market trends and insights to refine stock strategies and inform decision-making.
  • Supporting strategic initiatives that enhance the overall Wholesale channel offering.

Who you are…
You possess strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. You can perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment using your excellent organisational skills. A continuous improvement mindset, you focus on refining processes and driving efficiency.

Essential

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a retail merchandising function.
  • Exposure to wholesale or omnichannel retail environments.
