Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a proactive WHS and Return to Work Coordinator to lead the implementation and continuous improvement of safety systems and Return to Work programs in line with South Australian legislation. This hands-on role involves coordinating compliance initiatives, managing incident investigations, and supporting injured workers in their recovery and return to meaningful work, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with work, health, and safety regulations (e.g. Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (SA)), Safe Work Australia standards and applicable Codes of Practice.)
  • Facilitate the development, implementation, and review of WHS procedures, risk assessments, and work instructions (WIs).
  • Conduct and support risk assessments, and workplace inspections.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near misses using root cause analysis and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning and drills, including fire evacuation, chemical spills, and first aid.
  • Deliver or coordinate training in WHS, manual handling, PPE, hazardous substances, and other risk-specific topics.
  • Promote employee engagement in safety through toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and active consultation with Health & Safety Representatives (HSRs).
  • Maintain accurate records of training, incidents, audits, and inspections in line with WHS recordkeeping obligations.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end return to work process for injured employees, including early intervention, medical case management, and coordination of suitable duties.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE:

  • Solid understanding of ISO 45001 standards.
  • A Certificate IV in WHS (or equivalent qualification).
  • Hands-on experience in WHS, with exposure to manufacturing highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of internal and external auditing processes.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly across Microsoft Office and workplace systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, remain highly organised under pressure, and consistently deliver on deadlines.
