Cornerstone Family Healthcare is actively recruiting for a WIC Clerk to join our growing team in Newburgh.
RATE OF PAY/SALARY: $18.00 per hour
WORK LOCATION(S): Newburgh, NY
STATUS: Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of clerical duties necessary for the implementation of the WIC Program, accepts applications for participants in the WIC program, enters information in NYWIC, assesses participant of Categorical, Residential and Income eligibility and provides orientation to participant on how to use eWIC (electronic benefits transfer (EBT) at the store. Work with Nutritionists and other staff engaged in providing nutritional assessment and counseling as well as assistance to qualified women, infants, and children.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of and competence in basic computer and clerical skills, completing forms, and public relations.
  • Good written and communication skills, ability to work cooperatively, organize and work effectively, accept and utilize guidance.
  • Bilingual: English & Spanis

Responsibilities:

  • Accepts applications for participants in the WIC program. Enters applicant information in the appropriate location in NYWIC.
  • Schedules participants for appropriate appointments.
  • Collect information for the certification process including verifying identity, income and residency.
  • Review Rights and Responsibilities with participants
  • Conduct program orientation, explain program benefits, issue eWIC card, set up WIC2GO and provide list of authorized vendors.
  • Provide orientation on the use of eWIC redemption.
  • Review documentation and enters in NYWIC information used to determine categorical, residential and income eligibility for the WIC program. Assesses information to determine if applicant meets eligibility criteria in each of those three categories as established by the state and federal rules. Make appropriate notes as necessary.
  • Provide referrals to health and social services, and document in participant’s record.
  • Generate appropriate correspondence through NYWIC.
  • Maintains all required information and scan in participant’s electronic charts.
  • Follows up on certifications, missed appointments, and termination notices.
  • Retrieves and returns messages daily.
  • Performs other related departmental duties as requested by WIC Program Lead Clerk, Program Director, Site Supervisor, or other staff.
  • Travel to other WIC sites for coverage when needed.
  • Attend and participate in monthly department, All Staff, and other required meetings.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all clinical, administrative, and general policies and procedures as outlined in the Cornerstone Family Healthcare Policy and Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of Cornerstone Family Healthcare including, but not limited to, patient confidentiality, financials, and employee relations.
