Description

NAPA Shipping Solutions, is a leader in digitalization and optimization for the maritime industry. We are now looking for a dedicated Wind Assisted Vessel Optimization Lead to join our team. This full-time role will focus on market research, building and sharing increased technical understanding of considerations related to assessing the performance of wind-assisted vessels, optimizing their operations, and communicating that internally and externally.
The role and the team
The role involves extensive interaction and collaboration both within NAPA and with external stakeholders. Internally, the person will work closely with their own team, peers, and other teams to support product and service development. This includes analyzing, validating, and formulating proposals for wind-assisted propulsion-related development topics in cooperation with the Product Manager and Product Owners.
Externally, the role will support our marketing efforts by participating in related seminars, interviews, and blog posts. Additionally, the employee will assist our sales team by joining sales calls to explain our capabilities and possibilities. Collaboration with product owners and managers is also essential to formulate, adjust, and iterate clear proposals on what the Wind Assisted Propulsion Ship (WAPS) market needs in our products and services. Furthermore, the role will involve interaction and collaboration with wind-assisted propulsion system makers to ensure that NAPA remains the market leader in performance analytics and weather routing of wind-assisted vessels.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure that NAPA possesses the necessary expertise to maintain its leading position in analyzing and optimizing the benefits of Wind Assisted Propulsion Systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research on various wind-assisted propulsion technologies, expand NAPA’s technical understanding of these technologies, and effectively communicate and coordinate internally to ensure that the acquired knowledge is implemented in our products and services.
  • Maintain and enhance awareness among external stakeholders about NAPA’s industry-leading capabilities.
  • Work with product owners and managers to formulate and iterate feature proposals for the WAPS market.
  • Participate in seminars, interviews, and blog posts to support marketing efforts.
  • Join customer meetings to review the outcomes from real implementations, and to support explaining the results and other NAPA’s capabilities and possibilities.

What are we looking for?

  • Relevant educational background, e.g. Naval Architect or other maritime related education
  • 5+ year of relevant experience
  • General understanding of WAPS
  • Experience with hydrodynamics and/or ship performance modeling
  • Fluent written and spoken English language skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Understanding of Software Product development is seen as a plus
