Description SUMMARY: MCAD is seeking a Windows and Network Technician. The WN Technician is responsible for providing operational management and support for MCAD’s Windows server environment, networking equipment, and telecommunications services and systems. Duties include regular maintenance, backup, configuration, development, documentation, updates, security and support. The WN Technician must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution. DETAILS: This is a full time, exempt position expected to work 40 hours a week. This role will work at least 2-3 days on campus, each week. This position reports to Assistant Vice President of Technology and is paid $60,000 - $75,000 annually. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Server And Application: Work with the ITS team to support application systems and helps the ‘System Administrator’ manage: Microsoft Active Directory and Services Server hardware Microsoft and Linux Server Administration Storage System (Netapp) HyperV Administration Server backups Hardware installation and maintenance (requires some lifting) Assists HelpDesk support and departmental technical service and support requests Network and Telecommunications: helps support the Network Administrator to manage: The management of network devices (router, firewall, switches, etc.) administration, and reporting in collaboration with the Network Administrator Monitoring network performance, troubleshooting, and security incident handling. Configuration of wireless network and APs. System logging, monitoring, and access PBX system, handsets, voicemail, and peripherals Patching/application of upgrades to network and server equipment Keeps documentation of policies and procedures up to date Provides backup for other ITS team members as needed Works closely with vendor support when required On-call rotation for responding to and resolving systems issues occurring outside of business hours Other duties as assigned Represents MCAD’s vision, purpose, and values in day to day work and interactions with MCAD students, staff, faculty, and campus guests, as well as the greater community Requirements EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Required - Two years work experience with Windows server and/or network operations Server operating systems (ex. Windows primarily, Linux is a value add) Working knowledge of computer operating systems (ex. Mac OS, Windows) Basic network protocols and concepts (such as TCP/IP, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, spanning tree) Management of enterprise networking equipment (ex. HP, Fortinet, etc.), access control lists (ACLs), basic IP routing, Ethernet switching, and firewall management. Support Ticket System operations and response Strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude Demonstrated ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, to organize and manage their time effectively and to work as a part of a team Demonstrated ability to facilitate communication and collaborate across departments Preferred - Experience with a Higher Education environment System Center, Configuration Manager - Administration Experience Experience with scripting, and related server automation MS PowerShell - scripting and reporting Experience managing Ubuntu OS Managing a digital telephony system (SIP/VOIP) ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a professional office environment.
