About the role

COTECO Internacional is looking for an experienced Windows System Administrator (WINOP) to join a long-term international programme supporting a highly secure NATO operational environment in the Munich area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the availability, capacity, performance and security of enterprise Windows platforms used for daily business operations.

This is a hands-on infrastructure role covering Windows server administration, Microsoft core services, virtualization, storage, software distribution, backup, endpoint security, system hardening and IT service management.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Windows Server 2019/2022 environments.
• Manage Active Directory, user accounts, profiles and access rights.
• Administer core Microsoft services including DNS, DHCP, IIS and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
• Support Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Exchange Server environments.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for system administration and operational tasks.
• Install, configure and maintain VMware vSphere and vCenter environments.
• Support KVM and Proxmox virtualization technologies.
• Administer SAN/NAS storage, particularly NetApp and Hitachi VSP platforms.
• Manage software distribution, patching and updates using technologies such as WSUS, DSM-NetInstall and ManageEngine.
• Support endpoint security and system protection using McAfee security technologies.
• Perform system backup, recovery and disaster-recovery activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, operating procedures and configuration-management records.
• Handle incidents, tasks and change requests through IT service-management processes.
• Collaborate with Service Desk, Network, Unix/Linux, DBA, Security and application teams.
• Participate in planned maintenance and Business Continuity activities.

These responsibilities reflect the operational scope defined for WINOP, including Windows infrastructure, VMware, SAN/NAS, PKI, backup, security administration and ITSM support.

Required technical experience

We are looking for candidates with strong hands-on experience in:

• Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and 2022
• Active Directory
• DNS, DHCP, IIS and GPO
• PowerShell
• Windows clustering
• WSUS
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Microsoft Exchange Server
• VMware vSphere / vCenter
• KVM / Proxmox
• NetApp and Hitachi VSP SAN/NAS
• Software distribution and endpoint-management technologies
• McAfee endpoint and data-protection solutions
• Backup and recovery technologies such as IBM Spectrum Protect / TSM
• Windows security hardening
• Incident, task and change management
• Enterprise infrastructure troubleshooting

The official role also requires strong Windows 11 administration, Microsoft KMS, Terminal Server, printing administration and experience operating in structured IT service-management environments.

Highly valued

• ITIL Foundation certification
• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server experience
• TCP/IP networking knowledge
• Previous experience within NATO, defence, government or another secure/regulated environment
• Working knowledge of German
