POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Hospitality and Management Programs, the Wine and Culinary Management Instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) plays a crucial role in offering and enhancing our wine education courses and culinary management programming. This position is responsible for managing the delivery of existing curricula in wine education, culinary management, and beverage-based recreational courses while ensuring compliance with federal Title IV, state regulations, and institutional policies, and providing strategic oversight of wine budgets, third-party vendors and processes.

This is a dynamic role requiring expertise in wine education and culinary management and a proven track record of experience in hospitality. An ideal candidate will have a level III or level IV certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers (or equivalent) and extensive managerial experience in the hospitality industry. A strong working knowledge of back-of-house culinary management, experience in bar and beverage program development, and the ability to inspire our students and provide proactive, student-centered solutions to ensure institutional and regulatory goals are met. This role demands an educator who is detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven, with a passion for student success (and wine!). The Instructor will use and add value to our curriculum to lead engaging academic classes both on campus and in a distance education environment.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of sommelier experience required.
  • Certification by the Court of Master Sommeliers as a Level III, or Level IV sommelier.
  • Must have mastery-level knowledge of wine tasting, wine sales, and wine service.
  • Minimum of 5+ Years in hospitality management and business development
  • Teaching or related field experience is a plus
  • Flexible schedule (weekends and evenings) to accommodate ICE class schedules.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with others.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Must be able to develop and maintain excellent relationships with staff and student population
