Salary: £36,000 per annum + travel expenses + performance-related bonuses (£42,000 OTE)

CN Foods is a fast-growing London distributor of premium and health-oriented food & drink. After eight consecutive years of double-digit growth, we are now expanding our Wine & Alcohol division. Our core customer base is independent retail, and we are looking for an ambitious, knowledgeable wine professional to build on this foundation.
Role Overview
We are seeking a field-based Wine Business Development Manager (BDM) to drive growth within our existing independent retail customer base and to develop new business opportunities. While the role will focus primarily on wine, it will also cover other alcohol categories as we expand. Working in collaboration with our sales team, you will use your expertise to develop customer relationships, support product training, and deliver profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow CN Foods’ wine and alcohol sales within the independent retail sector.
  • Visit existing customers, developing relationships and increasing their wine listings.
  • Identify and win new business across retail and on-trade opportunities.
  • Collaborate with account managers, supporting them with wine training, tastings, and product knowledge.
  • Work with suppliers and internal teams on range development and category planning.
  • Deliver customer tastings, presentations, and events to support sales.
  • Keep up to date with competitor activity, trends, and opportunities in the UK wine and alcohol market.
  • Achieve sales targets and KPIs, driving the growth of the new division.

Candidate Requirements

  • WSET Level 2 (or higher) qualification preferred.
  • Proven experience in wine sales, ideally within the on-trade or independent retail sector.
  • Strong commercial skills with a proven track record of developing accounts.
  • Confident communicator with excellent presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working independently in the field.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
