CELLAR HAND

Niagara College Teaching Winery is a unique estate winery where our focus is on quality education, preparing students for work in the wonderful world of wine, as well as producing high-quality VQA wines. Our graduates go on to exciting careers in winery operations, viticulture, sales/marketing and wine business management. Our 25-acre estate vineyard is located on the St. David’s Bench, and we produce wines from estate grown fruit as well as select premium vineyards within the Niagara region.
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cellar Hand to join our team. This is a dynamic and multifaceted commercial production environment that doubles as a classroom and research facility. Attention to detail, critical thinking, an ability to follow instructions and to work independently is desirable.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· Work in partnership with our winemaker to ensure wine quality is maintained at all stages of the production process.
· Fruit sampling, receival, processing, and harvest sanitation.
· Proficiency in cellar tasks; tank cleaning, punch-downs and pump-overs, racking, transfers, blending, fining, filtering and bottling, inoculations, fermentation management and additions.
· Barrel management, including filling, emptying, topping, and cleaning.
· Cider-production operations such as fermentation, filtration, kegging, carbonation, and canning.
· Assisting and supporting students with their winemaking projects.
· Participation in winery events and customer-facing activities.
· Participate in upholding the Health and Safety protocols.
