Stew Leonard’s WINES began when Stew Leonard, Jr., the CEO and President of Stew Leonard’s food stores and his two sisters, Jill and Beth, and brother, Tom, were sitting at the dinner table. They realized the only item on the table that their store did not sell was the wine. The meal was fantastic, but the wine was just ok. Stew said to his sisters, “We can do better. They agreed that any store, which opened under the “Stew Leonard’s” trademark, would offer customers a friendly, well-trained staff and a clean, organized store. After studying the industry, taking multiple courses and traveling to numerous wineries, Beth L. Hollis, Stew’s sister, opened the first wine store in Yonkers, New York, in 1999. The Stew Leonard’s Mark is a registered trademark or service mark of Stew Leonard’s, a Connecticut partnership and is registered in the United States. Each wine store is independently owned and operated and is not part of a cooperative buying group or affiliated with the Stew Leonard’s food stores. Wine Merchandiser Part Time Hourly – Estimated pay range $17.25/hr - $19/hr depending on qualifications and experience Why Stew’s Wines? Position Description: Ensuring that product is checked in properly, shelves are stocked; exciting displays are built, and is available for customer’s questions on the floor. Your day-to-day: Stocking shelves building exciting displays safely operates equipment such as hand trucks, uboats, conveyor, forklifts (where necessary) Assist in inventory and store moves signing off on PO’s as deliveries arrive, ensuring accuracy product placement in stores helping to keep the store clean knows the store’s exclusive and focus items capability to ring on register and cover other areas of the store Ability to assist customers with the location of products in the store and basic wine pairings. Assist with other store operations tasks- ie cleaning break area, restrooms, collecting carts, stocking bags and materials at register What you bring to the team: A passion for the wine and spirits industry and a genuine interest in the products sold.
