SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Science ideally in Food Science or Chemistry
  • Previous experience in a beverage manufacturing laboratory role
  • Excellent laboratory analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong time management skills
  • Great attitude, self-motivated and excellent communication skills

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Winemaker, the Laboratory Manager’s role is to ensure the highest possible quality of wine is produced.
You will be responsible for routine sampling and analysis, QA/QC checks on the bottling line and ensuring that the lab is fully equipped at all times with required stock and that laboratory equipment is calibrated.
This position will have 1 direct report during vintage and during this busy period you will be responsible for pre vintage grape maturity sampling and will attend to post vintage external and internal document control for bottle packaging runs.
Previous experience in QA and WH&S compliance will be looked upon favourably.

This role involves being the first port of call for any QC issues and duties will include:

  • Delivery of QC projects that result in a high quality product
  • Help troubleshoot any issues and initiate any root cause activities
  • To mentor and train staff in laboratory testing
  • Co-ordinate the QA documentation, assist in technical issues and adhere to HACCP standards
