The Wings Community Programs Coordinator leads the team at the Windham Southwest Supervisory Union, working together to offer high quality after school and summer programming for students. The Coordinator will provide leadership, continuity, and coordination for the continued capacity building and oversight of the WSWSU Wings initiatives, and its activities, resources, and staff. This will include direct supervision of staff, implementation and development of programming, management of grants, as well as planning for the sustainability of the project. Wings is guided by the Wings Administrative Board and the Superintendent of WSWSU,with focused goals on assessment, capacity building, planning, implementation, and evaluation of academic, wellness and enrichment programming within 5 schools in the district.
The position will also include some direct youth programming responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities: Identify, recruit and involve community stakeholders/sectors in the development of WSWSU. Overall management, recruitment and training of Wings staff. Collaborate with community agencies, parents, youth, schools and others to develop and implement comprehensive, coordinated student focused activities reflecting youth voice and choice.Conduct regular Site Coordinator, and participate in Advisory Board meetings.
Organize community events and family dialogue activities. Collaborate with WSWSU administrators to promote projects that correspond to individual school goals. Assure that Wings mission, programs, and services are regularly presented to the WSWSU community. Represent Wings at community meetings, events and other public forums.
Implement with fidelity, grant required programming and complete mandatory local, state and federal grant reporting requirements. Attend all relevant grant meetings and required training. Manage the Wings fiscal resources and accounts payable within guidelines set forth by the fiscal agent. Seek out and secure other funding sources to sustain the project.
Collaborate with key partners and grant managers to ascertain and then develop data collection methods and supervision of the collection of relevant data. Write and submit timely reports to all funders as requiredReview and submit payroll documents. Complete biannual staff evaluations and collaborative goal setting. Key Qualifications and Competencies: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (3-5 years) in fields related to youth, education, youth development, nonprofit management, and/or community organizing.
Capacity with nonprofit or organizational budgeting and financial management or strong Excel or similar software experience. Strong communication skills including written, interpersonal and public speaking. Ability to engage with and relate to diverse populations within a small, rural community. Previous grant writing experience is strongly preferred.
Experience researching, writing and managing grants (experience with federal grants preferred). Experience with youth of all ages and classroom/behavioral management. Previous experience as a supervisor. Ability to learn on the job.
Able to work flexible hours. Some weekends, nights and travel required. Preferred knowledge and experience (willing to train): Team-oriented project management and meeting facilitation. Experience creating, planning and implementing programs that meet district, grant and mission goals and criteria.
Understanding of and experience working with or serving on a governing body such as an Advisory Board or Board of Directors. Experience with fundraising and building a donor base. Reports to: Wings Advisory Board and WSWSU Superintendent. We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis and the position will remain open until filled.
Hours and Compensation: This is a 35-40-hour per week position eligible for benefits
