Wings Community Programs Director The Wings Community Programs Director leads the team at the Windham Southwest Supervisory Union (WSWSU) to offer high quality academic, wellness and enrichment programming during after school and summertime for students within 5 schools in the WSWSU. The Director provides leadership, continuity, and coordination for continued capacity building and oversight of the WSWSU Wings initiatives, activities, resources, and staff. This includes direct supervision of staff; collaboration with community agencies, parents, youth, school and others to develop and implement student focused programming reflecting youth voice and choice; management of grants; and planning for the sustainability of the project. Duties and Responsibilities: Handle all grant management responsibilities (including attending all relevant grant meetings and trainings; submitting required reports in a timely manner; managing all fiscal resources and accounts payable within WSWSU, state and federal guidelines/requirements; Collaborate with WSWSU and school administrators to promote projects that correspond to WSWSU and individual school goals.Collaborate with key partners, school staff and state grant manager to ascertain and then develop data collection methods and supervision of the collection of relevant data.
Direct supervision of the Site Coordinator Supervisor (SCS).Overall management, recruitment, training and evaluation of Wings Site Coordinators and program staff in collaboration with the SCS.Review and submit payroll documents.Establish clear communication procedures with all involved parties.Represent Wings at community meetings, events and other public forums.Schedule and facilitate Wings Advisory Board meetings.Assure that Wings mission, programs, and services are regularly presented to the WSWSU community. Seek out and secure other funding sources to sustain the project (including grant writing).Able to work flexible hours. Some weekends, nights and travel required.Key Qualifications and Competencies: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (3-5 years) in fields related to youth, education, youth development, nonprofit management, and/or community organizing. Experience with nonprofit or organizational budgeting and financial management.Competence in Excel or similar software.
Strong communication skills including written, interpersonal and public speaking.Ability to engage with and relate to diverse populations within a small, rural community. Involvement in researching, writing and managing local, state and federal grants.Experience supervising staff. Experience in team-oriented project management and meeting facilitation. Ability to create, plan and implement programs.Experience with youth of all ages and classroom/behavioral management preferred but not required.
Understanding of and experience working with or serving on a governing body such as an Advisory Board or Board of Directors preferred but not required. Experience with fundraising and building a donor base preferred but not required.Wings Community Programs Director Reports to: Wings Advisory Board and WSWSU Superintendent. Applications reviewed on a rolling basis. The position will remain open until it is filled.
Hours and Compensation: This is a 35-40-hour per week position eligible for benefits
