Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The candidate will participate in a structured cooperative educational/work program between Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed Martin) and a college/university where they are enrolled in an accredited degree program directly related to skills required by the company. Candidate will perform assigned tasks in technical/engineering disciplines e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering.
The successful candidate will be called to work based out of CFB Halifax, Stadacona and will be part of the Halifax Class Combat System Integration In-Service Support Program.
Functioning within in a multi-disciplined team environment the candidate will be responsible for designing the modification of test sites and training facilities on behalf of the customer. They will be involved in the complete engineering life cycle from specification, design, deployment, test, maintenance and field troubleshooting for systems and capabilities of a high complexity naval combat system.

GENERAL TECHNICAL DUTIES

  • Designing and preparing Engineering Change Specifications to the Halifax Class Land Based Test Site and Training Facilities.
  • Performing technical investigation and impact assessments.
  • Performing trade studies.
  • Management of product structure and related design documentation.
  • Performing requirements analysis.
  • Continuously drive project excellence and with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating on system design activities with senior systems engineer and engineering staff and supporting technical reviews.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure overall project satisfaction.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Current student in an engineering from an accredited university in mechanical, electrical, computer or a related engineering field
  • Knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical members of the engineering/management staff and personnel assigned to related work
  • Aptitude for solving challenging problems in a team environment
  • Have a high degree of initiative and autonomy
  • Have a high learning ability
  • Ability to adapt and perform in a dynamic environment
  • Available for eight months, starting January 2026


    • Current student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or substantially similar field

    • Able to work 100% on-site
    • Eligible for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret clearance.

    ADDITIONAL SKILLS DESIRED FOR THE ROLE

    • Experience with Software, Systems, Hardware or Maintenance engineering lifecycles an asset
    • Experience in a shipyard environment an asset
    • Experience with Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) Customer an asset
