Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The candidate will participate in a structured cooperative educational/work program between Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed Martin) and a college/university where they are enrolled in an accredited degree program directly related to skills required by the company. Candidate will perform assigned tasks in technical/engineering disciplines e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering.
Specifically, the candidate will perform software development work for naval programs.

This may include:

  • Programming and debugging in both C++ and Java
  • Unit testing and documentation
  • Software design
  • Status & Metrics Reporting
  • Working in an Agile team environment
  • Various other tasks as required.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Current student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or substantially similar field
  • Aptitude for programming and debugging with the latest tools in an Object-Oriented environment
  • Knowledge of programming in Java
  • Eligible for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret clearance in a timely manner.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS DESIRED FOR THE ROLE

  • Technical experience with Java development
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum software development practices
  • Knowledge of Unified Modelling Language (UML)
  • Familiar with Linux operating environment
  • Familiar with Eclipse IDE or IntelliJ for Java
  • Familiar with software version tools (i.e. Git, SVN)
  • Knowledge of recognized software/system engineering processes
  • Well organized, capable of planning, scheduling and prioritizing work
  • Aptitude for solving challenging problems in a team environment
  • Good communication skills, and ability to work within a team
  • Active Security Clearance will be considered an asset.
