Overview This is a provisional appointment. Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job): To inspect all new electrical installations and all alterations to electrical wiring and equipment for light, heat, and power purposes in the City of Boston to ascertain conformance with the Massachusetts Electrical Code. Responsibilities Performs required inspections of old electrical installations. Investigate and submit written reports of all inspections. Investigate and submit written reports on fires and accidents, which may be attributed to electrical causes. Performs related work as required. Minimum Entrance Qualifications Applicants must have at least five (5) years of practical experience in the electrical field as a Massachusetts Licensed Journeyman Electrician. Ability to read plans of electrical installations, knowledge of the provisions of the Massachusetts Electrical Code. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license; access to a vehicle is required. A multi-lingual candidate is also preferred. Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. Applicants meeting the minimum entrance qualifications will be considered for the position. CORI check required. Boston Residency Required. Terms:Union/Salary Plan/Grade: EI-18Hours per week: 35
