Description
At Apple, creative thinking and thoughtful insights quickly transform into extraordinary products. Our successes are the result of highly skilled teams working in an environment that nurtures creativity, partnership and growth to produce novel solutions to tough problems. As a firmware engineer in the Wireless Connectivity Silicon Team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and bringup of innovative, fresh wireless silicon for various Apple products - the iPhone, Mac and more! New challenges arise every day that require the sharp problem-solving skills of passionate individuals dedicated to excellence. Are you ready to take on this challenge? DESCRIPTION We are looking for talented, creative and principled engineers who are well-versed with low-level embedded firmware and especially wireless PHY-layer firmware architecture and design— calibration algorithms, noise/interference processing, realtime processing flows, interfacing with RF hardware, power management/optimization, microcode, and/or MAC layer knowledge. You will be involved in the entire silicon production life-cycle, from pre-silicon validation using simulation, emulation, and FPGA prototyping to post-silicon bringup, performance characterization, system integration and debug, and finally to developing SoC test and calibration capabilities for chip, module, and product factories, after which you will see your hard work come to life in products used and loved by millions of people around the world. Engage in a dynamic, highly collaborative environment, and play a significant part of the development of new silicon for Apple eco-systems. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BS with 10 plus years of industry experience. Fluency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems (RTOS and/or bare-metal). Background in microcontrollers, SoCs, or embedded processors and familiarity with low-level hardware interaction (GPIOs, UART, SPI, I2C, ADC/DAC, etc.). Understanding of low-power design, memory management, timing analysis, and performance optimization in resource-constrained environments. Solid foundation of real-time operating systems concepts such as task scheduling, interrupt management, synchronization, and inter-process communication. Deep understanding of data structures, object-oriented design, and system architecture in an embedded environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience using Python as a support language for test automation, data analysis, and tool development to aid firmware validation and regression testing. Experience in wireless systems and protocols such as LTE/NR/WiFi/Bluetooth. Familiarity with key PHY performance metrics, such as EVM (Error Vector Magnitude), phase noise, frequency error, transmit power, and packet error rate (PER) measurements. Experience with pre-silicon bringup and validation on FPGA and emulation platforms.
