Description

Piper Companies is hiring a Wireless Network Engineer for a world wide technology organization located in Raleigh, NC. The Wireless Network Engineer will serve as a key contributor to wireless planning, survey, design, deployment, and troubleshooting. You’ll work with top-tier technologies and travel up to 50% of the time to various customer sites—ranging from manufacturing floors to hospital campuses. The Wireless Network Engineer is a long term contract opportunity.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE WIRELESS NETWORK ENGINEER:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in IT and enterprise wireless networks
  • Proficiency with RF design tools and methodologies (Ekahau, Hamina, or AirMagnet)
  • Experience in surveying and supporting wireless in large-scale environments (e.g., hospitals, manufacturing)
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • AireOS deployment and management
  • Cisco 9800 WLC configuration and operation (basic level)
  • Wireless troubleshooting (both client and RF-level)
  • Wireless authentication via Cisco ISE
  • Basic understanding of:
  • Cisco DNA Center (DNAC) for Wireless
  • LAN switching (Layer 2)
  • Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
Responsibilities
  • Conduct predictive and onsite RF surveys using Ekahau, Hamina, or AirMagnet (“AP on a stick”)
  • Support high- and low-level design activities for large-scale wireless deployments
  • Perform RF design, planning, and optimization in complex environments
  • Deploy and manage Cisco wireless LAN controllers, including AireOS and 9800 series
  • Provide operational support and troubleshooting for client and RF-related issues
  • Collaborate on network implementation planning, test execution, and cutover activities
  • Assist with wireless authentication integration using Cisco ISE and basic DNAC functions
  • Travel up to 50% to customer sites for deployments, surveys, and support
