Job Description Role Focus This role shapes Telstra’s long-term end-to-end wireless network technology & ecosystem direction. You will work across GN&T and key stakeholders in other BUs to define a long-term roadmap and strategy for the end-to-end wireless network and ecosystem, supporting the execution of key strategic technical programs. You will act as an aggregation point, spanning RAN, core, transport, cloud, infrastructure and devices to bring together optimal outcomes for Telstra’s wireless network. You will establish a robust market intelligence function and build relationships with global technology players to track emerging trends and inform where Telstra should play—commercially and technically. Role purpose The wireless end-to-end strategy principal will play a critical role in shaping Telstra’s 6G strategy, bringing together GN&T technology expertise and other Telstra business units. The position is responsible for building collaborative working relationships with GN&T functions, leading strategy development and developing strong industry partnerships. Key accountabilities: Lead development of the horizon two wireless end-to-end strategy (where we play, why and benefits) Define the high-level roadmap aggregating sequenced underpinning technology capability shifts and outcome milestones Build commercial strategy for how we partner or procure major technology milestones Collaborate with GN&T functions to align and articulate the execution plan Lead development of the 6G roadmap, including end to end plan aligned with 10-year mobile plan, procurement, commercial and technology strategies Contribute to the high-level formulation of multi-year end-to-end wieless network capex plans in partnership with Integrated Planning and the GN&T functions, including aligning funding priorities with the technology strategy Contribute to major technology initiatives including network technology lifecycle prioritisation, network resiliency and our broader NaaP strategy Develop CEOLT / Board level narratives and presentations on GN&T’s strategy (business + technology) Act as GN&T interface for cross-company strategy development – align with product and segment and corporate strategy Influence company level objectives through prioritisation of strategic technology objectives Understand the external environment (government, regulatory, etc) and industry landscape (suppliers, peers and competitors) Develop external relations with stakeholders (incl. international) for network and market intelligence Leverage insights across external, industry and customer trends to develop strategic priorities Identify emerging scenarios, risks and key decisions influencing timing and roadmaps Collaborate with Network Economics Modelling team to compare scenario options and determine impacts, ROI and viable solution What you’ll bring (skills, experience & attributes) Strategy & execution: Demonstrated experience developing multi-horizon network strategies spanning wireless end-to-end technology across RAN, core, transport, cloud and infrastructure, with pragmatic focus on outcomes. Technology expertise: Deep expert knowledge of wireless end-to-end technology standards, technology and related network economics, with strong working knowledge across a broad range of adjacent network technologies. Commercial acumen: Ability to build option-value cases (TCO/ROI/IRR), quantify risks and externalities, and frame build/buy/partner pathways that are pragmatic and investable. Regulatory awareness: Understanding of Australian regulatory and sovereignty considerations for critical infrastructure, security and resilience. Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills to create concise exec-ready papers and facilitate stakeholder alignment across GN&T, InfraCo, P&T, Legal/Regulatory and Corporate Strategy.
