Job Description We are looking for a Cost Engineer specialized in automotive Wire Harness systems (Low Voltage and High Voltage) with strong exposure to harness manufacturing processes, cost structure analysis, and supplier cost modeling. This role focuses on evaluating the cost structure of wire harness assemblies, analyzing manufacturing operations, and supporting sourcing and engineering teams with data-driven cost estimations for harness components, materials, and manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities Develop cost models for LV wire harness systems, including material, labor, overhead, and manufacturing processes. Analyze wire harness manufacturing operations such as wire cutting & stripping, crimping, terminal insertion, splicing, taping/braiding, harness board assembly, and electrical testing (EOL). Evaluate BOM structures, copper content, and material consumption for harness assemblies. Maintain cost databases for components including wires, cables, connectors, terminals, clips, tapes, and protection materials. Perform supplier cost breakdown analysis, competitive benchmarking, and VA/VE activities to identify cost optimization opportunities. Support NRE and tooling cost evaluation and collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and program teams to support sourcing and product development decisions. Analyze market trends for copper and harness materials to support cost forecasting. Technical Scope Cost engineering activities related to Low Voltage (LV) wire harness systems, connectors, terminals, wiring components, copper cables, protection materials (tapes, corrugated tubes, braiding), and LV connectivity components such as charging inlets and related wiring systems. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in wire harness manufacturing, cost engineering, or product development. Strong understanding of wire harness manufacturing processes and cost drivers, including BOM analysis, labor and cycle time estimation, and copper weight calculations. Advanced proficiency in Excel for cost modeling and data analysis, with strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate with global engineering and purchasing teams. Experience working with wire harness suppliers such as Yazaki, Lear, Aptiv, Leoni, Kromberg & Schubert, Draexlmaier, Sumitomo, or similar is highly valued.
