EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Minimum (2) years Community College Diploma in Health or Social Sciences.
  • Eligibility for ICADC certification.
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) required.
  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in an addictions setting within a health care environment
  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working in an addiction setting.

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ABILITY:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of addictions normally gained through Diploma preparation at a post-secondary level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients in behavioral crisis.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with training/knowledge in: cultural sensitivity & inclusivity, theories of addiction, fundamental concepts of addiction, treatment approaches/modalities. pharmacology relevant to withdrawal management, relapse prevention, harm reduction modalities, stages of change, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, mental health issues and recognition of signs and symptoms of impairment
  • Demonstrated excellent communications skills; written and verbal.
