Description POSTION SUMMARY The YMCA is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to support daily branch operations by maintaining a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for all members, guests, and staff. This role is responsible for cleaning the Women’s Locker Room, restrooms, and other assigned areas to help promote a safe and healthy community. This part-time position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Due to member privacy and the nature of the work area, this position requires a female employee. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the Women’s Locker Room, restrooms, and other assigned areas by completing daily custodial duties. Tasks may include wet/dry mopping, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, recycling, window cleaning, and general facility cleaning. Maintain assigned equipment and custodial supplies. Restock soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other facility supplies as needed. Support branch operations by assisting with room set-ups for events and programs. Assist the Property Director with preventative maintenance tasks and general facility upkeep. Assist with general upkeep of building grounds as assigned. Ensure the facility and property are secure during assigned shift and report any incidents, hazards, or maintenance concerns to a supervisor. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and wearing required PPE (gloves, etc.). Maintain a positive and professional attitude with staff and members. Ability to work independently and complete tasks with attention to detail. Strong understanding of cleanliness and sanitation and how it supports member satisfaction. Ability to provide courteous customer service to staff and members. Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and chemical products. Ability to perform physical duties including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting/carrying, and working in confined spaces. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. YMCA SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: CPR & First Aid – Must be able to complete and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid; able to assist individuals in need until professional help arrives. Emergency Response – Ability to quickly identify emergency situations (medical, fire, environmental, etc.) and respond appropriately following established procedures. Incident Management – Required to report all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately to supervisors. Safe Environment – Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for all staff, members, and participants. Physical Readiness – Must be able to perform physical tasks related to safety, including assisting individuals of various ages and physical abilities.
