PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficient in the safe use of carpentry and woodworking tools and equipment.
  • Completion of a post-secondary program in carpentry or woodworking is considered an asset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with solid math and measurement skills.
  • Maintains exceptional accuracy and craftsmanship, ensuring all finished products consistently meet or exceed quality standards
  • Proactively identifies issues in the finishing process and implements effective, adaptive solutions to maintain optimal production outcomes
  • Consistently produces high-quality work on time, demonstrating a strong work ethic, dependability, and accountability.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary diploma or certification in a related field is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in woodworking or a related field.
  • Demonstrated reliability with consistent attendance and commitment to scheduled shifts.
Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Wood Finisher is responsible for inspecting all completed products to ensure they are damage-free, operating powered equipment for surface finishing and applying protective coatings, and supporting CNC operators with machine cleaning and workspace maintenance. Additional duties include assisting with product preparation, removing manageable scrap from the machine, and upholding all Health & Safety policies. The Wood Finisher must consistently ensure safe, efficient operational practices are followed.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Complete repairs to billet surfaces.
  • Operate powered equipment for the purpose of surface finishing.
  • Apply coatings as per engineered drawings.
  • Ensure that all work completed meets quality specifications and standards.
  • When scheduled, clean sawdust and manageable debris inside and outside the work areas of the CNC machines.
  • Assist CNC operators with preparing products and removal of manageable scrap material.
  • Chunk billets using powered chainsaw as per engineering drawing and quality requirements.
  • Cutting scrap generated from CNC machines using powered chain saws.
  • Take part in the continuous improvement process to improve productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Maintain the facility and the facility’s equipment in a neat, clean, orderly fashion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management.
