East Kent Timber Ltd is a very well established independent Timber Merchants with a busy trade mill. We enjoy a good reputation with our customers and we believe in providing a first class customer service at all times.
For the first time in 23 years, we are recruiting a confident, reliable and highly skilled Wood Machinist. Proven experience operating a Weinig moulder is preferable together with experience in the use of cross cut saws, spindle moulders, dimension saw and surface planer.
The ideal candidate will have a City & Guilds 586 Advanced Craft Certificate or an NVQ Level 3 in Wood Machining and a proven track record in the industry. A Sideloader license is desirable but not essential.

The role will entail:

• Selecting timber from a cutting list.
• Machining timber to customer requirements.
• Processing orders quickly and accurately in order to meet customer demands.
• Operating Weinig moulder 6 cutter, surface planer, thicknesser, dimension saw, spindle moulder.
• Producing grinding templates with CAD.
• Grinding Profile cutters.
• Communicating machine breakdowns or any other issues.
• Maintaining tidiness of the mill.
• Manual handling and lifting.
• Being aware of and complying with the Companies Health and Safety policies.
• Carrying out any reasonable requests as directed by the Management team.

The ideal candidate will be someone who:

• Is punctual and reliable.
• Has good communication skills.
• Has a good level of physical fitness due to the manual handling and lifting involved.
• Has the ability to work as part of a small team to produce various timber components.
• Is flexible to adapt to sudden changes or requests in relation to the production plan.
• Will possess an eye for detail and remain focused and conscientious even when under pressure.
• Has experience or is currently employed in a similar role within a busy mill.

The hours are:

• Mon to Thurs 8am-5pm
• Fri 8am -4.30pm
• some Saturdays 8am-12pm (overtime)

Salary will be negotiable according to qualifications and experience.
Own transport essential due to rural location.
