The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking one (1) highly organized and detail-oriented Digital Media/Traffic Disclosure Clerk to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the accurate, timely preparation, and electronic distribution of charge reports and supporting materials to the Crown Prosecutor’s Office. Your efforts will ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and authenticity of all court disclosure processes, contributing to the effectiveness of Edmonton’s justice system.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and display professionalism, sound judgement, and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information.
  • Searching charges, courtrooms, accused and assigned prosecutors using a secure province-wide software system.
  • Searching, editing and updating various databases.
  • Tracking reports, documentation, and diary dates.
  • Liaising with the EPS members, Crown Prosecutors Office, Digital Evidence Management Unit and Property Exhibit Unit for Court related matters.
  • Liaising with various units/sections to facilitate the provision of missing relevant investigative records.
  • Receiving and returning Requests for Subpoena Cancellation Forms for all EPS members.
  • Preparing and distributing EPS members Subpoenas and Police witness cancellations.
  • Capacity to deal with potential graphic or disturbing content
  • Reviewing and evaluating charge reports in order to identify issues regarding completeness and deadlines.
  • Electronic/physical distribution and disclosure of audio/visual media files and charge reports to Provincial, Federal, and Specialized Crowns Office.
  • Safeguarding the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information throughout all stages of the disclosure process.
  • Adhering to strict deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cross training with other clerk positions within the unit to ensure that the workflow is managed efficiently as required.
  • Performing general office duties, including telephone inquiries, mail distribution and other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic microcomputer applications and a minimum of two (2) years’ diversified word and information processing experience.
  • OR Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to data entry or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college and a minimum of two (2) years’ diversified data entry experience including general office procedures.Any further certificates, diplomas or degrees in an area related to policing, law or computer technology would be considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Proven technical ability working with various computer software programs and databases.
  • Experience working with media technology.
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Code and court procedures would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated self-initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with JOIN, EPROS, NicheUA, Ethos, APIS, Evidence.com and Microsoft Access are an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload in a demanding fast paced environment.
  • Mature individual with the ability to adapt to change and work in a multidisciplinary team setting.
