Responsibilities:

  • Modify, update, and remove features in the customized WP eCommerce plugin.
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement user-friendly front-end experiences using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • Ensure mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility across all web pages.
  • Develop and maintain graphic assets using tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar tools for banners, icons, and web graphics.
  • Utilize SEO best practices to improve the website’s visibility and search engine rankings.
  • Integrate WooCommerce features when required and provide insights for potential migration or feature enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with WordPress coding standards and plugin development guidelines.
  • Optimize website speed, security, and overall performance.
  • Monitor site metrics using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEO plugins (e.g., Yoast, RankMath).
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to align website designs with branding and campaign goals.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work in our Calgary office.
  • Proven experience in developing, modifying, and managing WP eCommerce plugins.
  • Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL.
  • Experience with front-end development, including UI/UX design and responsive design principles.
  • Expertise with graphic design tools, such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (or similar).
  • Familiarity with WooCommerce and its integration with WordPress.
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices, including on-page, technical SEO, and content optimization.
  • Proficiency in using tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, and SEO plugins to monitor performance.
  • Experience with WordPress REST API and hooks/filters for extending plugin functionality.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and WordPress security best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize performance through caching, code minification, and image optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with WordPress Multisite and managing complex setups.
  • Knowledge of structured data (Schema Markup) for SEO optimization.
  • Experience with tools like Elementor, LearnDash, or other relevant plugins.
