MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Facility Management: Extensive experience with facility management including systems engineering design and maintenance, configuration management programs, work control, facility control systems, major construction projects, and upgrades and renovations. Extensive understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
Maintenance Operations: Extensive knowledge of working planning and scheduling processes. Thorough knowledge of plant operating practices and procedures. Demonstrated experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and determining action to be performed on problems affecting the maintenance program.
Leadership: Ability to challenge individuals to develop skills outside of their comfort zone. Ability to identify and develop successors to key roles, and experience handling internal discipline to resolve problems and provide solutions. Demonstrated experience and skill in management, supervision, and human resources administration of assigned employees.
Technology: Demonstrated expertise with a computerized work management system such as Asset Suites, SAP, Maximo, etc.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
DOE Order 426.2 Minimum Requirements: Position requires a bachelor of science degree in engineering or related science, and 4 years nuclear experience. Education or experience that is job related may be substituted on a case-by-case basis. The degree may fulfill 3 of the 4 years of nuclear experience on a one-for-one time basis.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Full understanding of the Laboratory’s work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Active Q clearance.
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) desired.
    Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
    Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Responsibilities

Work Control is a multidisciplinary group, providing deployed support to all Facility Operations Directorates (FODs) for maintenance planning, scheduling, and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) support. The MSS-Work Control group uses Integrated Work Management to plan, schedule, and perform work in a safe and secure manner.

The Nuclear Facility Work Control Team Lead (WCTL) is responsible for managing the maintenance work control center within LANL. The WCTL reports operationally to the Maintenance Manager in each area of the lab. Key responsibilities include:

  • Increase organizational efficiencies and productivity through improved teamwork and integration of the Maintenance Site Services, Engineering Services and Facility Operations departments.
  • Provide functional and operational direction to Work Control Planners, Maintenance Support Specialists and Schedulers, including all management and oversight functions.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and issue of equipment and/or system modifications, corrective maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance work packages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.
  • Review changes in scope to active work packages and oversee the revision of the work package if the scope change is determined to be major.
  • Track and expedite established priority of work packages.
  • Manage various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training.
  • Provide input for budgets and review applicable segments of budgets in relation to work control planning objectives to ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Establish and enforce expectations related to safety, procedure compliance, corrective actions, and appropriate work behaviors.
