ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience within a manufacturing or processing environment (e.g., through previous employment, work experience, or an understanding gained from personal background). You understand the unique challenges and operational realities of this sector.
  • A genuine interest in and commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

This is an outstanding entry-level opportunity for a dedicated WHS professional to launch their career within a dynamic manufacturing/processing environment. As our WHS Officer, you’ll be instrumental in supporting our safety initiatives directly on the factory floor. This isn’t a desk job; you’ll be actively involved in identifying hazards, assisting with incident investigations, conducting safety walkthroughs, and promoting safe work practices among our operational teams. You’ll gain invaluable practical experience and receive mentorship to develop into a well-rounded WHS professional. Some intra and interstate travel will be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducting regular site inspections and safety walkthroughs to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with WHS procedures.
  • Assisting in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and hazards, and helping to implement corrective actions.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of WHS training sessions for employees.
  • Promoting a positive safety culture through active engagement with all levels of the workforce.
  • Maintaining accurate WHS records and assisting with WHS reporting.
  • Collaborating with production teams to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  • Participating in WHS meetings and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
