  • Diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution in Hospitality, Medical or Admin Assistant or a related field.
  • 3+ years of administrative experience.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in adult learning principles and methodologies.
  • A Valid Manitoba Driver’s License and method of transportation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience guiding and mentoring.
  • Ability to liaise with industry partners to develop and maintain relationships.
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working in a post-secondary environment is an asset
  • Experience delivering content using online learning tools, specifically MyLearning, and Simplicity.
  • Experience in facilitating educational practicums, internships or work experience components of academic programming
Responsibilities
  • Prospects and coordinates Work Practicum placements for the department.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as Work Practicum documentation, progress reporting, attendance tracking, and general communication, etc.
  • Completes practicum evaluation packages.
  • Acts as the primary contact for the assigned practicum sites as a representative of MITT.
  • Maintains and records relevant student information in the Student Information System, ensuring accurate and timely entry of information.
  • Communicates and collaborates with instructional staff and other departments of the Institute.
  • Works with instructional staff to schedule check-in sessions during classes to review key practicum requirements and/or processes.
  • Participates in program area and college-wide meetings and training initiatives.
  • Serves as a role model for students with respect to citizenship, employability skills, and ethical practice.
  • Fosters and builds strong working relations with industry partners through active participation in the Program Advisory Committee’s and other industry consultations and as a primary liaison between the practice site and the Institute.
  • Serves as an ambassador of the Institute and contributes ideas to the overall goals, objectives and activities of the Institute.
  • Participates as an active team member by sharing in program-specific activities, as well as college-wide activities Fosters a positive and respectful environment, motivating students to behave in a professional manner while they accomplish their educational goals.
  • Values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrates approachability and a desire to help, encouraging trust and lines of communication with students.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with students as a mentor, leader, and Work Integrated Learning Officer.
  • Encourages students to succeed and learn from failures, extinguishing discouragement and disappointment and instead fostering personal and professional growth to help students reach their full potential.
  • Manages student behaviour according to the Institution’s policies and procedures.
  • Provides students with health and safety training so they develop the skills, attitudes, and values that lead to responsible behaviour in the classroom and in the workplace.
